Hello. I'm Beth Carroll. Welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.
What does a parent do when their 6-year old son starts pounding out classical music on the family piano? Encourage him, of course.
But sometimes it's not that simple.
In Mont Vernon there's a young musician, who's been playing the piano since he was 4, and loves to perform Beethoven, Bach and Mozart.
His parents are delighted - the problem is finding teachers who can keep up with him.
Outlook's Phil Vaughn visited the family at their home to hear the music -- and how the 9=year old prodigy is learning to become better.

That was Michael's young brother Andrew playing a polka duet with him.
Todd and LaVon say they want their boys to keep playing music as a hobby -- while persuing other interests. Should it work out, perhaps someday Michael's piano playing
will become more serious.

Return to index of stories...
The creator of one of the most memorable music and theatrical celebrations called "The Revels" passed away in 2005.
John Langstaff and his daughter Carol are credited with spreading the seasonal solstice celebration throughout the United States.
"Revels North" began in Hanover in 19-74.
The community-based productions continue to this day.
We have visited with "Revels North" in years past.
Outlook's Richard Ager brings us this appreciation of Langstaff's legacy.

Stambaugh says because he can get all his wood locally he's actually able to charge less for his guitars than most custom designers.
